Are PVC or Acrylic plastisol coatings eco-friendly?
Plastisols are solutions of PVC or Acrylic polymers dispersed with plasticisers, which are modified with other materials and additives to achieve a range of flexible PVC or Acrylic products. Plastisol is one of the most widely used coatings – and for good reason! Not only does it boast impressive properties, it’s also an environmentally friendly option.
Here’s why….
☀️ It’s highly durable and chemical/weather resistant – this means the plastisol coatings last longer, have a longer decomposition rate, and protect the material beneath.
🌳 Plastisol has a very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) – meaning less particles are released into the air. This makes it one of the most environmentally friendly coating materials.
❌ Plastisol is non-toxic – this means it isn’t harmful for people or the planet.
🦠 Plastisol can be made Antiviral or Antimicrobial. PolyBlend has developed an industry leading plastisol solution that provides antiviral and antimicrobial protection for surface coatings. We can develop the technology to your existing product range or formulate a custom solution to your specific requirements.

Dip Moulding is a simple and frequently employed process used worldwide. It works by creating a ‘to-scale’ mould of the product before it is heated and dipped in a liquid PVC or Acrylic, known as plastisol. With this type of process, the speed of entry and dip time determines the shape and thickness of the final product.
